Friday was one of the worst days i have experienced as a big brother in a very long time. Now obviously my life really in no way was affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary, but it definitely puts things into perspective.
First thing it shows me is that it's amazing what people can do when they have something to rally behind. I mean this from the heart that to see all the amazing people I know forget about debating and be genuinely concerned, upset, and angry at what happened i felt showed that their is still a large part of the people in this world that can get past belief and rally together.
Second thing it showed me is that some people are so insensitive to these issues are are so blatantly oblivious to what really matters in this world, that all they can think to do is start a heated debate just so they can talk basically. To those people i feel bad for you. I posted on my facebook Friday about the incident and immediately people didn't take time to remember the kids, take time to honour the kids, all they wanted to do was debate. I understand the need to figure out what went wrong and fix it, which honestly between all the morons with uneducated opinions will never happen. But what ever happened to the need to mourn. The need to remember. The need to honour. Let the debates wait, let the arguing wait, these kids were taken too soon and they deserve to be remembered, mourned, and honoured.
Now being as this is a blog about sports, there is a side to this story affected by the wide world of sports. Tributes mostly, beautiful moments meant for nothing but to honour those we lost too soon. Players all over the NFL wrote the names of kids/teachers that were lost in this tragedy on their shoes. Chris Johnson wrote all 26 names on his shoes before his MNF game. Numerous teams had stickers on their helmets to honour the victims and victims families. Moments of silence were held all over the NFL, at Gillette stadium 26 flares were shot into the air one for each victim.
I think we should all take notes from what these players did. They took the time to honour, and remember, something a lot of us didn't do.
Getting away from the sports side of this, there is one more aspect of this i feel needs to be mentioned. The religious side of this. Now again i shared a video on my facebook page from Mike Huckabee i believe his name is. Now i feel its very clear from some of my posts that i am not a religious person. But at times like this people that are religious, need to be able to fall back on their faith. And this huge debate about whether or not he was right to say what he did or not, i feel misses the point. I think the big point he was making is that in times of tragedy and need people fall back to what comforts them. And for a large portion of people that religion. Taking religion out schools takes away from some kids something to fall back. From other kids it means nothing but whatever religion you take away from the kids that it is meaningful, it does take something away. And for people to debate religious views in my opinion is like beating a dead horse. Everyone has an opinion they are unwilling to change.
The real point i want to get across here is that now we can debate, argue, yell, scream, do whatever you have to do to make you feel like you have been heard and your opinion matters. But as a society we need to realise that there is a time for debate and a time for mourning, and how insensitive we have come to the mourning period is disgusting. Point and case, the poor kids who got thrown on TV after seeing there friends and classmates shot and killed, the journalist who did this need to be fired and anyone who thinks its OK they did this needs to reevaluate themselves because that was a disgusting show of journalism by those people.
In the end what happened was a tragedy, 20 kids and 6 adults taken much too soon, the innocence of every child in that school was taken, and families separated when they should be together waiting for Christmas to come. If anyone can make the story of what happened about a debate and not about the victims, i means every word of this your a disgusting person. To the families affected and the community torn apart by this tragedy i know none of you will read this but my heart goes out to you.

He's good he has to be a cheater
I'm back shaking off the rust for something i feel very strongly about. There is this assumption about high performance athletes that they are all using something that's illegal and there is no way that they can be that good and that strong without cheating.
This is not true. Contrary to popular belief some people just work really really hard. They use supplements yes but they don't have some master mind drug dealer who can muster up products that are so advanced they can't be tested for. These are guys supplements come from sponsors. They are all tested to make sure they are legal. There is no master conspiracy to cheat in professional athletics.
I love the guys who watch sports and feel they have a grasp on what these guys go through on a day to day basis. Even better are the guys who played "midget hockey" so they know exactly what the pros go through. Those guys have no idea. Professional athletes have the best facilities in the world whether it be physio, work out facilities, practise facilities. They have the best of the best and are expected to use it. These guys work there bags off every day to get in the best shape they can be in. Guys like Sidney Crosby, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, work everyday to become the best at their sport. They don't just pop a few pills lift a few weights and get on with it.
Now for those of you who say they use these PED's for recovery. Again they are high performance athletes. They recover quicker than average on their own, then you add on the amount of legal supplements they can use to aid in recovery, and then on top of that you add in the world class therapists these guys have at their disposal on a daily basis. They don't need to cheat. The guys who cheat are the guys who lack the overall physical ability, or they are the guys driven by ego.
To label all athletes as cheater because they are physically superior to you is absolutely absurd. These guys work day in and day out to get better at their craft, and some people want to take that away from them because of ignorance, or jealousy.
Sure there are guys who have cheated. Melky Cabrera, Lance Armstrong, A-Rod, Roger Clemens, those are just a few, but to label every pro athlete as a cheater is ridiculous.
People need to realise that hard work and dedication do pay off, and that people who spend there whole lives working, strengthening, and perfecting a sport are going to get bigger, stronger, faster, and are going to look like clay sculpted figures. Doesn't mean they juiced up or they used some type of PED. And it also doesn't mean that they pay scientists to develop them the most advanced PED on the market that is ahead of all drug testing protocol. Sorry conspiracy theorist you lose this one.

The New Age Athlete
"It's not the urge to surpass all others at whatever the cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost."-Arthur Ashe
That quote shows the mentality of athletes of the past. Guys who would go through a wall for there teammates, and if that wasn't enough they would keep pushing themselves until it was enough. That quote signifies what used to be common in sport. Now you don't see that too often.
You used to be able to fill a team with guys that had respect for the game, their team, and their coach. You used to be able to fill a team with guys that you didn't have to worry about work ethic. Now you can't fill a team with that. There are definitely guys who have all these attributes today, but they are rare. You can't fill a team with them, you see it all over, whether it be high school athletics, to collegiate, all the way up to professional sports. Every team now has guys who are more concerned with appearance, or individual stats, than overall team success. Sadly the guys that have that poor mentality are usually the ones with the most raw talent.
Over the years whether it's been parenting, coaching, media, or a deadly combination of too many negative factors, we have somewhere along the lines changed the mentality of athletes to look after #1 before anything. To me this is baffling when you have so many resources today, whether it be sports psychology, books, television, that show what success looks like in team sports. And they show team play. They don't show one guy doing everything and then everyone praises him for winning.
Take the San Francisco Giants who just won a world series. Bruce Bochy made few comments as to why his team was so successful but the one point he emphasized was that his guys were a team first. Everyone left there individual agendas at home and came to work ready to do anything and everything. 2009 Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum had a terrible year, he wanted to be on the post season roster so he without even questioning his manager took a spot in the bullpen. He performed admirably out of the pen and was huge in his teams success. Hunter Pence was interviewed on field after the Giants had won, he was asked how he felt having such a big role in this win, he responded with saying he did just as much as every other guy on the team.
Team players are winners. A team will succeed in the end, where an individual will fail. The Patriots three super bowl winning teams in the 2000's, were team wins. People mention a high powered offence, and a good defence when they think of those teams. They think of a franchise built the right way, and they think of the Patriot Way. Teams win championships, individuals win games.
At what time did it become OK for athletes to decided whats right and whats wrong on a team. That's up to a coaching staff to decide and for players to abide by. Simple rules like what time to show up, what to wear to games, have become issues. You used to have to tell guys to leave the gym, now you have to make sure they get there on time. What changed in the minds of athletes that made these little things so hard to abide by. And when these rules are broken, coaches are made out as villains because they have punishment for these offences. Sure call it a little thing and in the long run doesn't mean much, but it's the simple fact that players has lost the respect for authority so they can't even show up on time. You see it in professional sports now, people show up late so they get benched. How many Chicago Bears under Mike Ditka were late. I can bet there were very few if any.Mike Singletary said it best "I can not win with'em."
All the arrests, discipline issues, etc. you see in pro and amateur sports today are because of a change in mindset of today's athletes. I believe that if you combine old school mentality with today's physical athlete that's a scary thing. Rarely do you see those two attributes together, but when you do its a scary thing, because that makes for an unbelievable man/athlete.

Ok Kids watch how they play BUT not how they act
Nothing really sparked this post except curiosity, and a bit of anger.
Today were chatting about why athletes (who are adults) can't act like any other grown man/woman would in a public setting. Now i understand that these guys are under a microscope so for some what people call "run-ins" i think we are being very critical and unreasonable with them. But for the majority of the acts players get in trouble for, they are just being plain old stupid. Take the Detroit Lions as a whole right now. Not exactly a roster of scholars. They did clean it up a little by cutting some guys, but in the off season alone i think they have upwards of 3 arrests. Majority of them for DUI. How stupid can you be. Just because you are a professional athlete does not mean that you are above the law. These guys makes millions, maybe an average player will only make a million, but I'm pretty sure between the booze and i can only assume women you were trying to bribe and or intoxicate so they will sleep with you, you should probably have 20 bucks left over for a cab. Or if your in the off season take that opportunity to maybe walk some of the booze off. Maybe not the safest option but hey these guys are pretty big i think they can hold there own.
Now that we have got past how simple it is not to drink and drive, lets move on to the next one. To you jerk offs who have no money. Not one part of me feels bad for you. Evander Hollyfield has like 12 kids with 4-6 women. He is 50 and still boxing and can't retire or he will go to jail. That makes me sick this guy was a star in the peak of boxing and he is broke. Vince Young made millions, and he doesn't even know where it went. That's almost worse than spending it all. How stupid can you be that you don't know where your money went. Terrell Owens is so far in child support he also is broke, which is also hilarious. Don't give me some sob story because you had all these women just throwing themselves at you and you were young, dumb, and full of cum. I don't care you still have a brain, a partial college education, and pretty good hands so use those hands to throw on a dome. WOW problem solved for Owens and Hollyfield. If you make a minimum of 850,000 dollars a year in no way should you ever go broke unless you are a complete moron, in which your mother should hire you a financial advisor to hold on to your money so you can't waste it on shiny things and fast cars you can drive when your sauced.
Point number three. The guys who are "misunderstood". Nope your not misunderstood your just an ass hole. Delonte West, your an ass hole, Gilbert Arenas your an ass hole too Kevin Bieksa yep ass hole, Ryan Kessler giant ass hole(also might be a woman). There are numerous cases of guys who start fights in the locker room, who go to the media to fix problems, just so they can look like the good guy. These are the guys who can put a giant smile on when the cameras are on them but when they are off look out. Hey TO you know why no one will sign you, YOUR AN ASS HOLE. If these guys would put ego aside, and realize "hey I'm getting paid to play a game i love, and these guys around me are alright maybe we should be friends." Then i think that sports media might be able to cover more stories that matter. If we could have gotten away from why Dwight Howard wants a trade, then maybe we could have had some really good playoff coverage in the NHL and NBA.
Point number 4, DON'T PUBLICLY ASK FOR A TRADE. What are we 12 again, when you have to wait till people around to be a smart ass so your dad doesn't lay a beating on you. Grow up guys you want a trade, fine go to the GM and say "hey thanks for the opportunity but i would like to play somewhere else, and if we could keep this private until it's done that would be excellent." If more players did that, we again could get sports coverage that matters. If you want to get traded that's great for you, first of all who cares till it actually happens, second your interrupting my highlights with "breaking news" of someone who hasn't been traded but man he sure would appreciate one. Breaking news is if someone gets traded, and that someone has to be an all star or it's no longer breaking news it is just news and should be left on the ticker.
Point number 5, now let's be clear in no way in this point am i bashing any religion, i fully support athletes being religious if that is there choice. Now back to the point, STOP THANKING GOD FOR EVERYTHING. We get it your a very religious person, and like i said that's fine. I don't want you to ruin me going back and thinking about Suh stomping some guys arm out, or Clay Matthews body slamming someone by thanking god he was ok. He was ok because he is built like a brick shit house. Which he got by working hard. So you can believe that this all was gods work (which again is fine) but don't go on national TV and throw your religion at people. I don't watch football, or baseball, or hockey post game stuff so i can break out in prayer. I watch it for analysis, highlights, and to get the players perspective of the game. I personally don't care if you want to thank god, thank the president, thank anyone, if you really want to thank God go home and pray, do not go on national television and do it, your ruining my experience.
Now in my mini fit of rage, i forgot to thank the real pros, the guys who play the game the right way, the guys who stay out of the media until pre and post game press conferences. The guys who are asked how they felt about a play, or a game in general give a real thoughtful answer on how they thought things went. Thank You, you know who you are. To the rest of you i say clean it up.
Again i emphasize that i am not a religion hater, being religious is a choice an individual makes, i just feel that it shouldn't been thrown at other people.
Thank you for reading, i appreciate all the readers, please share it if you like it.

Week 6 a little late
So a day before week 7 starts I'm getting my life together here and will put together my thoughts on week 6 for you guys.
The once 4-0 Arizona Cardinals have fallen from the graces and with another loss this week they are now a bombing 4-3. They played the Vikes (5-2) who so far are the surprise team of the year. Adrian Peterson is a freak coming back from his knee, and it looks like he barely lost a step. Christian Ponder is playing very smart this year. Managing the ball well, not turning it over and making the throws that people doubted he could make coming out of the draft. I think he is answering a lot of questions people had about him coming out of Florida State. The game itself was alright never really a doubt that Minnesota would win it but Arizona kept it interesting. Vikes win 21-14.
The Giants and Redskins played a thriller at Metlife Stadium Sunday. Eli and RG3 went back and forth until finally Eli threw the knockout punch, a 77 yd TD pass to Victor Cruz (his only TD pass on the day). RG3 continues to show how mature he is for a rookie QB. Doing lots of damage with his arm and legs. He got huge praise from Justin Tuck after game, which was well earned. I think Cam should take some notes on how this kid is acting. As impressive as RG3 was they still didn't win. Giants win 27-23.
The Texans bounced back from getting thrashed by the packers last week to thrashing a pretty good ravens team. Although they were without Webb, and Ray Lewis, they got Terrell Suggs back which helped especially after losing Ray. It wasn't enough though, even if they had those two guys probably wouldn't have been enough. Matt Schaub was back in form, Arian Foster was also back in form after running pretty soft after against the Packers. People still saying the NFC is head and toes above the AFC which I feel isn't true. The NFC is a better division but i don't think the gap is as wide as most people think. Texans win 43-13.
The aforementioned Cam Newton played like a 7th rd pick again on Sunday. He is holding onto the ball too long, when he is throwing they are not good throws. He is playing like a guy who is surprised at the speed of the game. His rookie season was a good one for him, but what people fail to see is that they were still 6-10 last year. They weren't a good team last year. They have a decent roster but they can't put wins together. I have failed to mention the team that beat them because they did nothing special to win this game. It was the Cowboys and that is even worse for the Panthers. Cowboys win 19-14.
Pats/Jets on Sunday was an interesting game. The Jets went down the field first drive and scored to which the Pats responded with a Kickoff return for a TD. From there it seemed that the Jets just couldn't finish. Kind of shocking to look at the scoreboard and see the Pats up for the majority of the game. In the end the better team won, but in OT, and only because Mark Sanchez is Mark Sanchez and should never be put in a clutch situation anymore. He fumbled Pats win, and everyone still hates the J.E.T.S. Pats win 29-26.
Other winners on the week were 49ers, Packers, Saints, Titans, Colts, Raiders, Steelers, and Da Bears.
Thanks for reading and don't forget to watch game 1 of the World Series tonight.

HEYYY he hired them so lets fire him
Today we ponder the theory of fire the GM and everything will fix itself. This all comes on they day that the Carolina Panthers fired there GM because there offence can't score points. This offence has Cam Newton, Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Greg Olsen. That's two solid RB's the offensive rookie of the year a perennial pro bowl receiver and a tight end who is highly regarded in some circles. But hey it's the GM's fault they aren't producing. Maybe he should go out and sign TO and Chad Johnson so they will have a couple more receivers.
Cam is a second year QB who is having some growing pains. Is this not to be expected a bit, even with the year he had last year it is still only his second year, these things happen. Can we look at Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Sam Bradford, all guys who had good rookie years but stuttered in the season or seasons after. I would say they are doing alright now.
When the guys you have don't play that's not the GM's fault. This is like firing your boss because you aren't performing. Hey he hired me fire him. He can sign guys maybe motivate a bit, but aside from that when you have a player you have to expect them to perform. Same thing with a coach. They can do everything possible to prepare a team for a game but if the players go out and stink it up. How can the coach be responsible he got his team ready. He can't control a players thoughts, he can't control the players like puppets, the players still have to go out and execute.
This is what baffles me about pro sports, how we can hold players on such a high pedestal that when they fail we blame management. We don't call for the players heads we want the GM and the coach to be fired and if that doesn't work, well we obviously didn't get the right guys so lets fire the new guys and try again. Bill Bellichick coached the very below average Cleveland Browns before the patriots. He is considered one of the best coaches ever. So how do we hold him so highly when he coached a failing team. Every bodies response to this is "well look at who was on that team". Which is exactly my point. He had all professional football players. He wasn't playing with college kids he was playing with guys that everyone agreed should be in the NFL. I understand that not everyone is at the same skill level but, no matter what skill level you have, you have to perform to the best of your abilities every game day and those guys didn't do that.
Now obviously there are times when the coach is in the wrong. Take the whole eagles coaching staff right now. Yes they are under performing on the field. But the game planning and overall attitude of that team is a joke. The issue really is in the coaching staff there. To change coverage in the second half of a game when you have been shutting a team down is ridiculous. To have your mobile QB be coached to sit in the pocket and throw, especially with his size is a stupid move. That is a coaching error mixed with lack of player performance.
Take the 4-3 green bay packers this year. They are not a 4-3 team they should be much better than this. But the players were under performing to start the year, not the coaches fault the guys weren't executing. They start executing they blow out and undefeated team. See not the coaches fault. There are numerous examples of this in all sports. The Angels in baseball this year were stacked, didn't make the playoffs, the Miami Heat are also stacked they just won a title when really they should have 2 by now with that roster, Yankees can buy any player they want players didn't perform, the NY Rangers bought a pretty good team, didn't win the cup.
Players are held so highly in our society its shocking how we can be so adoring and critical of them but we never really call for them to lose there jobs. It's always the guys who put together the game plan, the guy who signs the players. So maybe next time your team isn't up to standards look at the players first coach/GM second.

Pre World Series playoff talk
Well if were going on predictions hopefully no one listened to me. Reds Choked, Baltimore came back to earth, the cards are showing how solid of a team they really are, the giants are just a good team, the tigers are just dominant, the yankees choked one series too late, and the A's also came back to earth.
Lets start with the three teams that are left. Detroit has been so very very impressive, their pen has been really not used but when they have been they have done the job. Their starters have been amazing, Verlander is almost expected to 9 every game, Fister, Scherzer, and Sanchez have been very solid as well. When you have pitching performing like they do your bats don't have to be at full force. But there have been, the Tigers currently have 4 players hitting over .300 with the highest being Jhonny Peralta hitting .389. They have 4 players that have gone deep this post season as well, which this year is impressive, 2 of those guys have multiple home runs. The way these guys are playing is impressive, solid D, good bats, great pitching, simple efficient baseball.
St Louis really surprised me this year. I didn't see them getting past the wild card round. They did that then they got through the Nationals with an unreal comeback in game 5. They have rode that all they way to a 3-1 series lead against the Giants. The Cards pen has been most impressive to me. So hard to hit off of, Jason Motte has been the best closer this post season hands down. There bats haven't been outstanding by any margin but they have been clutch. Fact is they only have 1 guy hitting over .300 (Yadier Molina). They have 3 hr which isn't outstanding but when those homers have come have been pretty important. The big thing with the Cards this year like i said before is how clutch they have been. They have been getting big hits in late innings with guys on. They are going to be playing the Tigers in the World Series but they will need to hit more consistently to have a chance because that Tigers lineup will hit off anyone.
The Giants are a solid team but didn't expect them to do much when they were in the playoffs. Posey, Sandoval, Pagan, Scutaro, and Pence have played pretty big roles whether good or bad. Pence finally got a rbi last night, Scutaro is hitting over .400 he is zoned in right now, Posey looks like he is going to be the best player around for awhile guys a stud, Pagan is hitting ok and playing really good D, Sandoval has been scoring people bad avg but solid with runners in position. There pitching has been suspect. Very streaky when they are on they are very tough to hit, Cain has been pretty good, Vogelsong also pretty good but getting past those two it open up a little, Lincecum looked wild again last night, Barry Zito is Barry Zito and you never know what you get with him. There pen has been decent but they definitely miss Brian Wilson. It's surprising to me that they made it this far honestly If the NLDS would have been Nats/Giants i think we would be having a different NLCS right now.
The A's ran a good streak for as long as they could but that Tigers team was just too good. The Reds choked severely, up 2-0 winning both game in SF and then losing all 3 in Cincy. Baltimore was so close and I would have loved to see a Baltimore/Detroit series in the ALCS, the yankees played as your typical high payed team. Things go wrong they can't fix it too concerned with appearance and/or personal playing time. I do have tons of respect still for Joe Girardi, he is 1 of 2 guys i really respect on that team (Jeter).
Overall it's been a pretty fun postseason to watch, not exactly dream match ups for the MLB but they have been good to watch. Can't wait to see the Tigers win it.

We talkin bout AROD...NOT THE GAME but AROD
Alex Rodriguez-647 career HR's, .300 career batting avg, 1950 career RBI, 2901 career hits. Pretty impressive numbers for a guy on the bench. O ya and 30 million dollar a yr contract is pretty fancy too. Here is a guy who over a 19 year career has consistently been an all star at 3B. He also lives a very good life when he isn't on the hot corner.
BUT i only talk about him because he currently isn't on the hot corner, unless the hot corner is the corner in the dugout with the heater. His current role on the Yankees included eating spitz on camera and hitting on blond chicks in the third row. But yes he still gets his 30 million dollar salary. He has a total of 3 hits this postseason with 1 run scored and 0 RBI. So basically he is the guy you send out so the pitcher throws more. He has been awful, not to say the rest of the yankee have been good, they are getting by on raw talent and good pitching. Cano has been bad, Granderson has been bad, Jeter was OK but he doesn't have an ankle currently so he is no good to them right now. Texeira has been alright as well, Swisher also was put on the bench and the guy my Phillies were hoping would take a pay cut is lighting up the playoffs Raul Ibanez. If were being realistic the only reason they are here is because 1) Ibanez broke out in game 5 for 2 dingers, and 2) CC, Phil Hughes and there other starters have done work (up till now at least). Not to take anything away from Baltimore but they were on borrowed time being in the playoffs (remember i picked them to win that series).
For A-Rod to hit 0.115 this postseason is embarrassing for him because people consider him hall of fame calibre, and also for the yankees who gave him this massive contract so he would perform. He is in his 19th year in the bigs which is a long time but if this is the drop off that was coming he should have retired. He hit .272 this year which isn't bad but I would not pay a guy 30 mill to hit under .300. If i am giving a guy that much money he better hit 20-30 HR and hit .310. Which brings us back to playoff A-Rod.
A-Rod has been shown day in and day out in the dugout looking uninterested, half asleep, and really hungry the way he is throwing those spitz down. There were reports he was wheeling and dealing during the game Jeter got hurt. Throwing a ball back and fourth with some girl to get her number. First of all your Alex Rodriguez send someone to her seat tell her to wait around and i guarantee she will don't make a ball boy deliver a ball to her asking for her number. Second maybe wait till after the game the wheel the fans. Just a suggestion but if you want to do that shit you should join the Red Sox get half cut in the clubhouse on your days off and then wheel the fans. It's a disgrace to himself, to the organization, and to the opposing team that he feels its OK to do that just because he isn't playing.
Also these garbage comments he has been making about being a cheerleader. No Alex your not supposed to be a cheerleader your supposed to be a LEADER. CC doesn't pitch everyday but when he isn't pitching he is top step of the dugout engaged in the game with this teammates. Mariano Rivera couldn't play if he wanted too right now and he is top step in the dugout engaged in the game. Those guys aren't being cheerleaders Alex they are being LEADERS. Amazes me how a grown man held so highly in the MLB can act like such a child because he isn't playing, I have guys on my high school team that are better teammates than this clown.
Let's clear one thing up i USED to have a lot of respect for A-Rod because he takes a lot of heat in every place he plays. And he handles it like a pro, but all of sudden he isn't performing so he isn't playing and now he acts like a 14 yr old girl who is mad at her friend for talking to a boy she likes. Get over it bud Eric Chavez is doing the same thing you did without the public scrutiny on the team. Everyone can strikeout but when you do it it pisses off everyone off so why wouldn't Girardi put someone in to take a little media off the team, now everyone else doesn't have to worry about why you suck.
All that ranting brings me to something I learned growing up playing sports. You win as a team but you lose when its about the individual. Tigers are going to win this series because the guy who won the Triple Crown is more excited when his 2B turns a sick double play then when he gets a hit. The Tigers are going to win because Verlander doesn't care if the ball gets turned to the pen as long as the team wins. All the Detroit Tigers care about is team success. Miguel Cabrera didn't play game 162 to pad his stats, he played it to help his team win and if that meant hit a homer then so be it, but if it meant 0-3 and trout with the batting title again so be it. A-Rod wants the team to do well when he is at 3B, he doesn't care what happens when he is on the bench. If any young athletes read this by chance take one thing from it, put your team ahead of yourself and that team will succeed.
As for what the Yankees do with him, cut him save the salary, trade him eat 3/4 of the contract, keep him and watch a guy who could go to the hall of fame ruin his rep around the league. Do whatever you want I hate how you run your organization anyway so here's to hoping you pay a guy 90 million that isn't even on your roster then maybe you can even out the playing field, see how you do when you have to develop players not just sign them.

Livestrong
Today Lance Armstrong stepped down and Chairman of the Livestrong brand. He also cut ties with Nike because of the doping situation he is in. This has brought a lot of negative publicity his way, but what it also has done which it shouldn't is belittle what Lance has done for cancer research in North America.
First things first whether he cheated or not is irrelevant in what i am writing on today. I believe that if he did cheat then he should be stripped of his Tour de France wins. You can't comprise the integrity of a sport because of who someone is.
Now to the point of what I'm writing on. This is a man who took what he had done in cycling, and what he has overcome in his life and raised more than 470 million dollars. 81 cents of every dollar sold of Livestrong products go towards funds raised for research and empowerment. In my mind this is more than enough to forgive a man for mistakes made. He didn't physically hurt anyone, he cheated yes and that's been dealt with. Why do we feel the need to criminalize a man who did something no other athlete has done.
Cancer kills, everyone knows someone or has been related to someone who has been hit with this terrible disease. And the man who is continuously raising money to help people suffering from it and try and find a cure is not being made out to be public criminal. In the end, it's a bike race that he no longer has credit for winning. I think we should all be able to live with the fact that he may have cheated, but he did so much good with the name he got through his bike racing that it has to balance out at least.
Now i know a lot of people think or feel I'm condoning cheating as long as you do something good with what you gain. I am not doing this. Cheating is cheating and you should be punished by your sport for doing this. But if were going to shit on Lance Armstrong for doing this when he has almost raised half a billion dollars for cancer. What about Melky Cabrera. He used steroids, but he took his name out of a batting race and was suspended so it's ok, we forgive you. What about every other professional athlete who cheated or used steroids and did nothing with all the money they got. Why don't we make a concentrated effort to shit on them daily.
Again i emphasize on the sporting side of this what he did was absolutely wrong and he has been punished for it. But i really feel that we are missing the point of who Lance Armstrong is. Lets go past the athlete, the cancer survivor, and all we need to focus on is that he is the founder of the Livestrong foundation. 470 MILLION DOLLARS FOR CANCER RESEARCH. If that isn't enough for someone to be forgiven not to sure what is. Is it because he didn't sign a big cheque himself and donate it. It's because he used his name to raise money. I personally don't care how he did because he put plenty of his own money into developing this foundation to make it what it is today. So whether he cheated or not the guy is doing more than his part to try and save the lives of people with a disease he beat. He wants people to have the resources to be able to beat cancer just like he did. What a terrible guy.
How dare he try and fund life saving cancer research. How dare he try and improve the lives of people with this disease with money raised through Livestrong. How dare he put a face and a brand on a disease that everyone knows and fears. But he cheated in some bike races so he is a criminal. You will notice that i am basically belittling the Tour de France. I realize it's a huge event, and a lot of people take pride in i. But in the end its a bunch of guys riding bikes through France. And we are bashing a guy who cheated, was punished for cheating, but did nothing but good with the name he earned from the bike race.
I want to end again by emphasizing that I don't condone steroid use. But i do condone supporting the Livestrong foundation and what Lance Armstrong did with his name to make that brand. I don't care if he is an ass hole in person, if he sleeps with a different girl every night. Or even if he has a house so big you get lost just looking in it. All i care is the good he has done with his name. Because I don't care how he is in his personal life. He was punished or cheating in his sport, rightfully so. I just don't want people to forget what he has done for cancer research in North America. Livestrong is a global brand that i encourage everyone to support, and if your above that, or don't support it you need to question your morals, because your not supporting Lance Armstrong by supporting Livestrong your supporting cancer research and empowerment and if you don't support that well you need to look in the mirror and serious question your morals.
Thanks for reading feel free to share with your friends.

Back with week 6
Well 6 days off and I'm back. This wrap is based solely on highlights as i spent my Sunday at Centurylink Field in Seattle getting made fun of by Seahawks fans because the pats feel they can coast through second halves when they have the lead.
So lets start it off with the game I was at. Pats played really well first half and got a nice lead going into half time. A couple shitty intentional grounding calls didn't help but it was the inability to move the ball in the second half that killed them. Seahawks D went into shut down mode in the 2nd half and there offence finally realized they were in a game. Brady threw for 395 and 2 TD's yet he was"outplayed" by a guy who made a couple nice deep throws. Get real Brady was by far the better QB in that game. A tipped ball in the endzone that was picked by Earl Thomas to me was the end of the patriots day they looked defeated at that even thought they were still winning. Hawks win 24-23.
Atlanta stayed undefeated getting through a pesky Raiders team this year that doesn't go away in any games. They don't win the games but they are scrapping it out, an admirable trait probably start turning in to some wins for them. ATL's d was solid all around with Matty Ice not at his best but good enough to win. Falcons win 23-20.
Detroit beat Philly which is now meaning the end of the world for the Eagles. I love it, they have a small QB who makes bad decisions, but damn he's fast. He has upwards of 11 turnovers this year, BUT were going to fire the D coordinator because, well just because we can. Here's an idea fire Andy Reid who has clearly lost his ability to lead this team because they have been mediocre in every game this year including the ones they have won. Also maybe bench the guy who can't hold onto the ball. Nick Foles is a young raw talent who came from basically being the only player who could play on the University of Arizona offence. Give him a shot, sounds like your cutting Vick at the end of the year anyway so why not get the kid some reps, seems to be the year for rookie QB's so who knows what could happen. Lions win 26-23.
The Niners got spanked on the weekend. The Giants strolled into Candlestick ready for a fight. And it turned out to be just an ass kicking. The niners offence didn't show up, the D was pretty good, but Eli was better. Alex Smith showed what happens when he thinks he is a real QB and not just a game manager. Giants win 26-3.
Ryan Tannehill might be a real QB folks. Don't quote me on that but he is looking more and more impressive every week. Leading a Miami offence that should be awful, they still aren't great they are doing enough to win which you can't ask anymore. Honestly i have no idea what is happening with this team all I know is they are 3-3 and that's AMAZING. Fins win17-14.
Guess who else won this weekend. The one and only Cleveland browns. This ones even more of a shocker because 1) they were playing what should be a good cincy team, and 2) they were without one of there best linebackers Scott Fujita. Brandon Wheeden is making better choice which means that they can actually drive the ball instead of 3 runs and a punt. Only bad thing is Trent Richardson got hurt so if its serious these wins won't keep up. Browns win 34-24.
Other winners this week were Titans, Ravens, jets, Bucs, Bills, Skins, Packers. Although the Ravens won they really lost losing Ray Lewis and LaDarius Webb for the year.

Whats a bountygate???
Day after the "new suspensions were handed out and people have had some time to react i figure it's now my turn to react to something that has dragged on too long.
First and foremost as a player you do what your coach tells you, you don't question, you just do. If he says jump you don't ask how high you just jump as high as you can. If he says go out there and hurt someone, you go out you play as hard as you can and if you get a chance to really put a hit on someone you do it. Now if coach says go out there hurt Brett Favre and you get $10,000, honestly I'm gonna go out there with every intention to injure him because that $10,000 i didn't have before. Don't care who you are 10 grand is a lot of money. If someone asked me to go up to my best friend and hit him in the face with an object just to hurt him i would probably do it and then share some money with him because of what i just did. Point is money makes people do stupid things.
Which brings me to the point where how can you say that anyone is to blame except to man controlling it. Greg Williams is to blame for this, people who "participated" were doing what they were paid to do. They were just doing there jobs if they were to either question the coach or let up to not hurt anyone we the public would be all over that player. We have no sympathy for players who don't produce, or who let up. Yet now were backing suspensions for guys who were just doing as they were told. Am I saying you should go out and hurt people, absolutely not. I don't believe that players should have the intent to injure. But in saying that when you have 260 lbs of muscle running at someone to tackle him, getting injured just feels like something that's going to happen.
The suspensions are Vilma still gone for the season, Smith 4 games, Fujita 1 game, Hargrove 7. To suspend a player for a season i feel is absurd, like i said before he was doing what was asked of him by his coach. I also don't really understand the variation in suspensions. First of all how do you pick out 4 guys from a whole defence that participated. Now I understand what the NFL did and suspended the "main" participants, but the whole defence was apart of this whether they gave money or earned money.
From what i have gathered the NFL has yet to even prove that these players had any intent to injure. So how do you uphold suspensions to players that haven't been proven guilty? Baffles me how they can still keep people out of work without pay and haven't proved anything yet.
This whole situation i think is a little redundant because you have players in the NFL that don't need players to have a bounty on there head to hurt them and nothing happens to them. *cough* james harrison *cough*. So the message we (the nfl) is sending is that if coach says go hurt someone its wrong, but if you just gather up the feeling to go hurt someone go get'em tiger.
Roger Godell has done a lot of good things for the NFL and professional sports as a whole but he royally fucked up this one.
Finally they definitely could have found a better name than "the bounty gate scandal", it's accurate yes but there are better ideas out there.

Week 5 was impossible to gamble on
Week 5 started with a sleeper and ended with a laugher.
TNF was pretty awful this week when the rams took on the 4-0 Arizona Cardinals. And then Arizona turned 4-1, and man was it boring. In what some people might call a "defensive" game the Rams and Cards put everyone to sleep. The only entertaining part was seeing Kevin Kolb get hit time and time again. Rams win 17-3.
Now on to better more entertaining games. The Colts/Packers game was one of the most fun games to watch this year. Beside the last minute finish to the game. It was the heart of a colts team driven but their coach Chuck Pagano who was diagnosed with leukaemia last week and will not be with the team for the next 6 weeks at least. The colts d held their own against a packers offence that was shorthanded yes but still has plenty of talent on it to put up tons of points. The colts offence lead by rookie Andrew Luck stunned the packers when they drove down the field last minute to win the game. Reggie Wayne played like a beat with 212 yds receiving which was 18 yds shy of what Mark Sanchez threw for this week. Colts may have turned things around a lot sooner than people expected. Colts win 30-27.
The Giants/Browns game probably should have been irrelevant to this week. But it showed the weakness the Giants have. They are a slow starting team that is prone to turnovers (kinda like that other NY team). With the Browns jumping out to a 14-0 lead the Giants really should have lost this game. If they were playing a real team they would but luckily for them they were playing the Browns. Giants win 41-27.
Now the only reason i am mentioning the Steelers/Eagles game is because Michael Vick has to be the most overrated player in the league. He fumbled 4 times Sunday, he only lost 2 of them luckily for him or eagles fans probably would have been losing their minds on Monday. Here is a guy who said when he needs to he takes care of the ball. I'm pretty sure you need to take care of that thing every time you have it you clown. The steelers were a better team all around so they won 16-14.
Falcons/Redskins was an interesting one. Played in Washington should have levelled the playing field for the Skins'. And it did for the most part but ATL was just too much. Side note on this game is that RG3 will be sliding for an hr a day in practice this week because he got his brain rattled and left the game with a concussion, can anyone say Mike Vick rd 2. Thankfully for Skins fans Kirk Cousins is a very solid replacement. Falcons win 24-17.
Over in New England the Pats showed why people have so much faith in them this year. They got up on a good Broncos team early and never looked back. The run game was excellent again, Brady ran the no huddle to perfection, and the D played really well but let up at the end of the game which hopefully doesn't become a trend. Pats are the second best team in the AFC and will continue to show that. Patriots win 31-21.
Finally MNF, I love when the Jets are on national TV especially this yr. First of when fans boo the QB in favour of a guy who showed again last night he can't throw the ball you are showing us why no one likes you or your team. Second the J.E.T.S just suck something fierce this year and as a pats fan i love seeing them struggle. O ya and that other team who played is pretty good as well. The Texans are just overall a very good team, the potential loss of Brian Cushing for the year could leave a huge hole in the middle of the field but this is a good team that has a better coaching staff so they will figure something out. JJ Watt is making a case for DPOY and Arian Foster/Matt Schaub are running that offence perfectly. Texans win 23-17.
Other winners this week included Dolpins, Ravens, Seahawks, Bears, Vikings, Niners, Saints. Also big congrats to Drew Brees who broke Johnny Unitas consecutive games with a TD pass record as he threw one in his 48th straight game. Guys a class act i hope the streak goes on.

PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!
It's that time of year folks, we have playoff baseball on our hands and it's o so exciting. Day off today wild card games start tomorrow with a one game playoff series. Here's how it's looking.
The cards play the braves in Atlanta tomorrow at 3pm (5pm et), very curious to see how managers play these series. Whether they go with their ace or do you go with your middle rotation guy. This is probably the lower profile of the two wild card series, even though it could be Chipper Jones last game ever. But don't count on it the Braves are going to win this game. Don't be surprised to see them push the Nats as well. Braves have a great closer, solid pen, solid rotation and they can hit the ball around enough to get some runs. Once they get a lead and the pen takes over tough team to beat. Braves win go on to play the Nationals Sunday.
The AL wild card is the Orioles vs Rangers. Yep the Texas Rangers did not win the AL west, they lost it last night to the OAKLAND ATHLETICS. Now i did not see this coming at all, i was certain the Rangers would be playing a home playoff game this weekend. Texas is solid all around, The O's may be on borrowed time but don't look for them to go away without a fight. Baltimore's going to win this game, Texas has been coasting as of late and it cost them last night and will cost them again tomorrow. If anyone saw the error Josh Hamilton made last night there's my proof to the coasting comment. I love Josh Hamilton but you can't make that error in game 162. I see Baltimore winning this series and beating the Yankees as well. These guys are driven for whatever reason.
Small side note here, last night after the A's beat Texas, Oakland pitcher Pat Neshek flew to Florida to be with is wife as she gave birth to their first child. 23 hrs later the child without explanation passed away. The A's will rally around this as I hope they do, Detroit's in tough.
Alright now the real series start on Saturday with the two DS series that don't involve wild card teams. Like mentioned above the A's play the Tigers. A's are going win this game, they are riding huge momentum, they have a team mate to rally around, they have millions of baseball fans without a team in the playoffs cheering for them. This is going to be a good series but look or the A's to take game one.
Also on Saturday the Giants play the Reds. Now I'm a huge fan of Lincecum and Posey, i think the guys are studs. Cincy is going to win this game and this series. I get the playoff experience that SF has i just think Cincinnati is too good to lose in the first rd.
Sunday we have 4 playoffs games which is the stupidest thing the MLB could do if you ask me but hey what do i know. They have yet to release when the games will be played because they are probably trying to work it around the best NFL games, which is where the idea of play them Monday makes a lot more sense to me. Cincy vs SF, A's vs Tigers, Yankees vs O's/Rangers, Nationals vs Braves/Cards. Definitely going to be good baseball but when you only get 16 weeks of watching your NFL team play not likely your going to miss a game.
Quick predictions from me. Take Baltimore/Atlanta, rd 2 take Baltimore/Tigers/Cincy/Nats. Rd 3 take Cincy/Baltimore. WS take Cincy. I will most likely get at least one of these so if your going to bet maybe think the picks through.
Anyway enjoy playoff baseball people, it's gonna be fun.

Hey STOP IT WITH THE TEBOW
So I went on twitter, facebook, and NFL.com this morning and i saw fucking Tim Tebows' name everywhere and now i'm irritated.
For those people who think Tebow would help the Jets offence i ask you simply, HOW?
He can't throw, he doesn't make a habit of making good decisions, when he does decide to throw the ball its hideous and rarely on target. Even the ball he threw to Thomas in OT last yr was high and behind. The guy is nothing more than a prop as a QB. He CAN NOT play the position in the NFL.
The fact people are suggesting he could help them is amazing. He might play and they might win yes. But he will not be the reason they win, you put a player of lesser skill into a game with guys they are going to work harder, they are going to try and make up for how shitty that guy is. Tim Tebow would be an awesome slot receiver, or fullback. But he is not an awesome QB. If you want a guy to be a good rusher with a below par arm, throw your back up RB in at QB he will do the same thing.
I just don't understand the NFL hype of this guy anymore. It baffles me that people are so engaged in such a mediocre player. I understand the public appeal to him because of how openly religious he is, the guy is a great speaker, and genuinely seems like a very good human being. But my god he is not a great football player. At least he isn't a great QB. Imagine 250 lbs Tim Tebow running the same routes Wes Welker does, cutting across the middle, now that has potential. Not too many guys are just going to throw themselves at the opportunity to go shoulder to shoulder with Tebow he's a big strong guy.
To all the experts out there, none of your reasons make sure. Your asking a defensive coach to change his offence around a guy who can't throw and your running game sucks and now your going to depend on it. WHERE IS THE LOGIC.
Hey Holmes is on the IR all year you now need a receiver, you have one, he wears #15. Give him a shot in a position he can actually excel at don't throw your team into a .500 season at best by playing this kid at QB. You want a QB try Greg McIlroy, you know the only guy on your roster to throw a preseason TD this year. Ya he might be a better option, BECAUSE HE IS A QB. Man it grinds me to see guys who work so hard be pushed aside by media scandals. Brian Hoyer who was awesome at Michigan State and was all you can ask for in a back up in new england does not have a job right now, He would be the best QB on that roster.
All I'm saying is i am not employed in the NFL and i just found the Jets two better options at QB, I'm pretty sure guys get paid big bucks to do what i just did. So for all you Tebow lovers, i don't hate the guy, if you read between the lines i really want him to succeed, but he is going to retire young if people try and make him a QB.

Week 4 all wrapped up
There were alot of points scored in week 4.....unless your a Jets fan HAHA
Anyway now that we got that out of the way, week 4 was a good week for quite a few teams, a nice bounce back week after a weird week 3.
Ravens snuck by the browns which on a short week with everything thats gone on in raven town is all you can ask for. Ravens win 23-16.
This could not wait, the J.E.T.S are a god awful offence and now the world knows it. I hope the Tebow chants come fast and furious so that the offence can get worse. I don't understand how throwing in a QB that is a worse passer is going to fix this team but man do i want to see it. O ya and the other team in this game looked very good bouncing back after a tough loss, run game was beautiful defence did work and alex smith did what he needs to do. Niners win 34-0, thats right 34-0 jets fans so suck on that.
Man the texans are good. All of them they are real good. Here's a team that is so complete it's so nice to see them have a offence ad defence built the right way. Matt Schaub is a boss this year. That defence is frighteningly good. Texans win 38-14.
The 4-0 ARIZONA CARDINALS are winning on defence right now and man is it ugly but yet so pretty. Here is a team that has half a QB, a solid WR core but like i said 1/2 a QB, and a run game that exists but is in no way stellar. But that defence is o so good. They create turnovers, swarm to the ball, they score points. They do it all so the offence just has to maintain possession to give them a breather and they are happy. They snuck out of this one but its a still a win. Cards win 24-21 (this upset a lot of gamblers im sure)
The Packers bounced back after that disaster in Seattle. Aaron Rodgers was on his feet more than he was on the ground which bids well for this team. Cedric Benson finally was used like he should be and the D played pretty well. The Saints in all means deserved to win this game as well though they played well. Pack wins 28-27
The Minnesota Vikings are 3-1, that was a serious comment. They beat the 1-3 Detroit Lions, that was also a serious comment. Going into this season to see these records reversed would have been very realistic, but these are very backwards. The Vikes very deserving though. Christian Ponder is playing like a very good QB, Adrian Peterson is getting healthier, Toby Gerhart is helping AP get healthy, and the pass rush is very productive. So far i'm impressed with the Vikes and the Lions look like a team that just got released from prison, probably because a few of them did. Vikes win 20-13.
The New England patriots returned to their offensive glory. Scoring 45 points in the second half. They had 2 receivers over 100 yds and to rb's who rushed for more than 100 yds. That has only happened once before (08 Packers). After a slowish first half the Pats exploded on offence with the D making sure they kept getting back on the field. Heres to hoping this continues. PATS WIN 52-28.
I fell asleep during the sunday night game so were not gonna go there (it was awfully boring). The MNF game though, different story. Who doesn't like seeing Jay Cutler molest the Cowboys defence, and then see poor old Tony Romo throw pick after pick until Kyle Orton was thrown in there. For me personally this was best case scenario, i find it hilarious how the cowboys can have so much talent and be so god awful week in and week out. It baffling and uterly hilarious i think. Bears win 34-18.
Other winners included Eagles (SNF), Redskins, Bengals, Broncos, Chargers, Falcons, Rams. I recommend watching Patriot Broncos sunday afternoon, then tune in monday night to what Mr. Tim Tebow and the J.E.T.S get put away wet by the Houston Texans.

Ryder Cup was so very fun
Well its come and gone for another couple years sadly. But it was well worth the wait. This years Ryder Cup was so much fun to watch. You don't usually hear that about any golf event but it was a blast. Between all the emotion on the European side playing for Seve, and the desire to win at home by the Americans it was an unreal atmosphere.
I found myself wanting to watch golf instead of football yesterday for the first time ever. Although very frustrating to watch Steve Stricker try and compete with guys he can't anymore, he put up a fight and almost ruined the Miracle at Medinah. Few things that bugged me though.
The fact that Steve Stricker was on the American team was beyond reasoning i thought. Yes he was a great golfer at one time, not anymore. I feel there were much better options than Steve Stricker for a course that set up so well for young guys who can blast the ball. Rickie Fowler would have done very well at Medinah i think. Long open course, the rough wasn't too thick, but thick enough around the hazards to stop the ball. Sets up awesome for a guy who can bomb the ball. Hunter Mahan who has been so consistent the past couple years i think should have been a shoe in. Nick Watney who was 4th in FedEx Cup standing definitely could have replaced Stricker or Matt Kuchar. I just feel that the Americans didn't field the best team they could have which is slightly disappointing, but o well.
Rory McIlroy is really good btw. This guy showed up 11 minutes before his tee time Sunday then proceeded to beat Keegan Bradley who was unreal all weekend. You just shouldn't be able to do that. Especially with all the preparation these guys do, i find it amazing that this kid can just show up and win.
The Europeans fielded there best players. This was excellent because like i said i don't think that the Americans fielded there best team. I still believe the Americans had the better team they just collapsed on Sunday.
Tiger should have been in an early pairing. The guy is #2 in the world right now you don't throw him in a pairing that could possibly mean nothing. Just not good team management. It's like when your a soccer team in a shootout you make sure your best players get to shoot, you don't risk not having them shoot. Davis Love made a big mistake by playing Tiger last i think. What if it was Tiger vs Garcia not Furyk. Or even Tiger vs Westwood, I would bet the outcome of those matches are changed. Putting Tiger last and having him matched up against Molinari i think was a very costly mistake for the Americans.
Finally, the better team won. Not the more skilled, but on Sunday the European were on fire, finally hitting the putts that weren't dropping the rest of the weekend. They were motivated, but mostly inspired by a lost friend who would have been so proud of the fight those euros put up Sunday. Now i admit i wanted the Americans to win but seeing the reactions on Olazabal when they won, how he broke down was amazing. Here's a guy who didn't take one golf shot all weekend, but he had a group of grown men rally around him and pull out a huge upset. Very inspiring.
O and a huge shout out to the spectators. Don't care what anyone says just hearing all the cheering through to TV was awesome, wish i could have been there.
I can't wait for 2014 Ryder cup in Scotland. I will most definitely be watching as hopefully an American team can take it home.

Were gonna get an arena so calm down
Breaking news everybody Darryl Katz is a good businessman.
Breaking news #2, the oilers aren't going anywhere.
Now that we have settled that, lets move on to why i'm saying this. First and foremost the contract has been awarded to PCL to build the damn thing. Probably a good sign it's going to happen. PCL not exactly your budget pricing company. Also we have a mayor who knows how important this team is to the city. He is doing his due diligence to make sure that we aren't getting screwed on this arena.
Mayor Mandel knows what the oilers are to edmontonians. He knows its more than something to drop some money on. He realizes its a tradition that defined our city for awhile. He is doing what he has to do 1) to shut up the arts community because lord knows the second this arena gets approved they are going to want 7 museums and3 art galleries built to balance it out. So you want to throw some blame around there should be target 1. Second to all you people (you know who you are) who would have lost their minds if the city took the first proposal on the arena and gave a go ahead. You guys would be throwing shit fits, because this would be to expensive, this would be unnecessary, and you wouldn't understand the need for fancy locker rooms.
So what i'm getting at is the general public it to blame for all the arena delay. If we weren't so bloody stupid about everything dollar spent in our city we probably could have had a deal done for the arena and be in building. BUT as i say that we all need to realize again that the arena is going to happen. First of all were in a lock out season for the NHL so maybe we resolve that before we get the arena figured, the oil kings can't pay for the arena but the oilers can. I we have no income through the oilers why are we spending for a new arena.
Do we really want to rush a new arena so we can open it to a .500 hockey team, maybe this delay is good. Maybe we will be a cup contender by the time we get it built, instead of maybe a playoff team.
I know i'm bouncing around to different points fairly random here so try and stay with me. My next point is going back to Mr. Katz. He is a super genious, why wouldn't he go look at somewhere that just approved a new arena. For all we know he was chatting with people on the process they went through to get the arena. We don't know that he was there to check out where the Seattle Oilers could be playing. But if you were him would you tell people that....absolutely not you lead people on to think your moving so we get a deal done to keep the oilers in Edmonton and put them in the arena they deserve.
My last point, is to you people who are all of a sudden concerned with this, i mean this in the nicest way possible but FUCK OFF. Your bitching and complaining about a project that has been in talks for awhile but you just found out about over google so now your concerned. To all these people can you go away and go Occupy something (are people still doing that?) because i assume your the same people who supported that shit show.
To all the real Oiler fans and people who actually care you have nothing to worry about. The oil aren't moving, we will have hockey for many years to come. If i'm wrong about this (which i'm not) I will be more than happy to let whoever wants to throw a pie at me. But if i'm right (which i am) i expect to be able to throw a pie at you.
Thanks for reading hope you liked it. Share it if you did. Sry for the bad words.

Week 3 was......Interesting here's my wrap up
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa day 2 of talking about the NFL and its officiating.
It was a weird week in the NFL with 3 games going to OT and a couple more ending on last second plays.
The cowboys won an awful football game against the Bucs. The boys were awful on offence and were very lucky that the Bucs were worse. This cowboy team needs to get it together. I do think they win the division still. Cowboys win 16-10.
The jets and dolphins played what looked to be a good football game. It wasn't, it was close though. This was one of three overtime games. Big story in this game were the injuries. Reggie Bush went out, and Revis went out for the jets. Revis is done for year turns out with an ACL. Bush also hurt a knee but he is only supposed to miss a couple games. So to the dolphins the AFC east thanks you, its now easier to throw on the jets D. Jets win 23-20.
The Texans asserted themselves as the best team in the NFL beating the Broncos with what looked to me a pretty basic victory for them. These guys are good, they have a great D with one of the best backs in the league and the 3rd best wideout in the league. Solid steady QB play, these guys should be a Super Bowl favourite. Even if they stumble a few times this year, they will be there in the end. O ya and Peyton isn't looking better, he's looking worse. Texans win 31-25.
The Atlanta Falcons are a really good football team. Matt Ryan is zoned in, the D is very opportunistic, and Mr. DUI himself (michael turner) is a solid back to compliment a really good passing game. San Diego looked irrelevant in this game. Philip Rivers was wishing he was Giant all game instead of a Charger. He is quickly finding out why Eli didn't want to play there. Falcons win in a romp 27-3.
The Detroit Lions look bound to be the underachievers of the year. What should be a solid defence, just allowed 44 pts to Jake Locker and the Tennessee Titans. An offence that should be among tops in the league, is playing well but turnovers and what looks to be a hurt QB for a couple weeks will put a damper on what they are trying to do. Look for the Lions to struggle this yr. Titans win 44-41 in OT.
The SNF game was really fun to watch (officiating aside) With lots of offence and some good D as well it was a complete game. Torrey Smith inspired the whole audience with his performance. For those that don't know his brother died in a motor bike accident in the morning. Smith drove to Virgina at 2 am was with his family all day, got back to Baltimore at 5 pm said he was going to play, proceeded to catch 2 touchdown passes, and was a huge part in a Ravens win. I'm a die hard pats fan but i found myself hoping this kid caught everything. Pats D look tired at the end of the game getting beat constantly on the corners. Ravens win on a last second FG 31-30.
Now for the grand finale. MNF Packers/Seahawks. In what was an awful game to watch i thought, partly officiating (mostly) and partly because the offences were too interested in watching their defences. The packers controlled the second half but in the end didn't score. Going into what was the final possession of the game the Seahawks were down 12-7, Russell Wilson drove them down the field with a bunch of incompletions and a few completions. Then he tossed one up in the end zone. Golden Tate proceeded to donkey punch Sam Shields, and what was ruled simultaneous possession was not. By what the refs called on the field they made the right call. But in no way was that catch simultaneous possession so the packers should have held on to win. Now my arguments to all you angry packer fans are as follows. 1) your offence scored 12 pts you didn't deserve to win. 2)If your DB swats the ball and doesn't go for the pick you win. 3) your offence scored 12 pts, honestly for all the raving you do about this offence all you got was 12 pts. Yes the refs blew the call, but your offence blew the game. Seahawks win 14-12.
Other week 3 winners included giants, cardinals (3-0), bears, bills, jags, vikes, chiefs, bengals, raiders. Week 4 should be interesting. Here's to hoping we have some real refs.

Can I replace the replacements
I swear I wasn't planning on doing this, but I have to because these guys are god awful so now I have too.
This is partially yes because there were more than a few drives extended on my patriots last night with phantom illegal contact or holding or pass interference calls. But mostly because these guys are making the NFL so frustrating to watch that I find myself actually changing the channel, not to another game though but to something else.
I don't know what it is that makes these refs so god awful but it brings me to wonder what is so unacceptable about the refs offer that the NFL won't accept it. What piece of the new agreement between the refs and the league is worth the integrity of the game. If it's money I'm gonna lose my shit, being a ref is a thankless job, if they want a few extra bucks, GIVE IT TO THEM. When you see guys like Heyward-Bay getting there heads knocked off by safeties and no flag thrown, we have an issue. If the NFL is so concerned about player safety, they should probably get the real refs back so that when those hits happen teams are penalized so they won't happen again. If i'm Ryan Mundy i just got away with murder and will probably do it again.
On that note Cris Collingsworth said it best last night "these guys are doing the best they can, but its just not good enough." Valid point sir, now why can't the NFL see that. What if it gets to the point where players don't want to play anymore. What if guys feel so unsafe and feel they put all the work in to have games decided by 75 yr old man who can't even remember the number of the guy he just threw a flag for. I wouldn't want to play in that league. It's a joke right now.
Take the Broncos/Falcons game Monday Night Football last week. The 1st quarter took just over an hr because of scrum after scrum, refs needed time to get the calls right. The first half was over 2 hr 15 min long. That's absurd, in what backwards society to people have time to watch one 5 hr football game on a Monday night. Isn't that the point on MNF to have 1 game for 3.5-4 hours then people get go to bed or do whatever. But to have that game literally go all night is ridiculous.
Now i love the people who think these refs are just getting nit picked because we need something to complain about. Ummmmm nope they are throwing stuff at us to complain about. A ref tripped a player with his hat yesterday. Were not even sure why the moron threw his hat but he did and it tripped Kevin Ogletree in the end zone. What if Romo threw him the ball and he couldn't catch it because he was on the ground after having a hat thrown under his foot. They had to pull a ref off a game because of bias. Should the idiot not have known to maybe take the pictures of him at a Saints game in a Saints jersey off facebook.(another reason why parents shouldn't have facebook)
So basically what i'm getting at is no im not going to stop watching the NFL. It's what i do on Sundays and what i will do on Sundays for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs. Yes i will continue to bitch every Sunday about the terrible officiating until the old refs are back. And then yes i will also continue to bitch about the officiating when the old refs are back but at least my bitching will be wrong i will just need something to complain about. Refs come back, please, pretty please.

HEYY I used to play so i know everything
I feel the title speaks for itself.
This the day after Greg Zaun became the baseball expert of all time and absolutely thrashed the blue jays organization. Which leads me to think, if you were a a sub par player who either made it or didn't what gives you the right to bash a whole organization. When did you become so knowledgeable about everything. Was it when you were getting slightly obese sitting on the bench mr zaun. Or was it all the time you spent thinking about those 3 pitch strikeouts. At what point in your career did you say to yourself "damn i am awful, but i literally know everything about baseball and how to run a team, so TV here i come."
Sorry to break it to ya big fellas but you were a shitty player and your a worse analyst. Guys like Greg Zaun, and Tim Hasselbeck who had garbage careers so they feel the need to go on TV criticize guys with more talent in there foot that they have in general. This irritates me, guys like Troy Aikman should be on TV, Steve Young, Deion Sanders all these guys are on TV and they shit on guys because they were better than them. But to see Greg Zaun rip on guys makes me sick. I guarantee that when Greg Zaun chirps a guy for not hitting a curve ball we should show all the curve balls he has struck out on, but we don't have enough time for that life story.
You know who i love seeing on TV are guys like Rich Eisen, Adam Schefter, Joe Buck, guys who never had high profile careers, but they don't bring what careers they had into any part of the discussion unless they are making fun of it. I love that/respect that, these are guys who have done the research, put in the hours in school to really know what they are doing and have educated valid opinions. Honestly it doesn't matter if you played the sport or not. A players perspective and a good analyst perspective should be very different. Players are so biased and feel we should see everything through the players eyes. NOPE that's not how it works bud sorry we see things through a consumers eyes which means if we aren't happy we are critical, we feel the need to dissect certain plays/players/games. Analysts look at the number, look at production, look at how a team is being run, look at how successful teams are run. Then they take all that info, form an educated opinion and share it. Instead of hearing "well back when i was on the bench picking my nose this guy used to do this." We as consumers get to see facts to go along with arguments. We get to hear someone speak who has not been smacked in the head with a clipboard so much he slurs.
This all being said players do have a valuable perspective of professional sports no doubt. All I'm saying is i don't want to hear "back when i played", or "this is how we did it", because the game (whichever sport it is) has evolved and we do things better and more efficient than you did sorry to have to tell you that. Which is why i love guys like Troy Aikman because they give up to date info. If you listen to Troy Aikman telecast he always says "Nowadays" he knows its changed and that everything he did in his hall of fame career doesn't need to be exactly replicated to succeed.
So NBC, CBS, CBC, TSN, SN, anyone who broadcasts professional sports really. Can we please can some real analysts, and if were getting ex players don't get 3rd string guys who thought they were really good when they really sucked. I don't want to hear about how they did things because they were losers (Joey Harrington).
Thanks for reading, just my opinions here feel free to disagree and comment. Hope i didn't offend anyone that's not my intention.

I will kill you via twitter
Angry fans this ones directed at you.
Next time you get the genius idea to threaten to kill a professional athlete via twitter. Maybe put that thought on hold take a breath realize all the info on a twitter profile, then take another second and realize that professional athletes are strong and will hurt you not the other way around, then were gonna take a third second and finally realize what a jackass your being.
See aren't we glad we did that. I bet the people who threatened to kill Josh Morgan wish they had that advice before they posted death because the guys is an immature jackass who happened to let that truth slip on national TV when he threw a little fit and a CB for a little shove that was solely meant for him to react and do something stupid. Which Mr. Morgan did, he threw a ball at the CB, at least make it hurt throw your helmet or something but not the ball, your better than that Josh.
We may all remember the death threats by niner fans towards their punt returner Kyle Williams who fumbled once....or twice to basically cost the niners the game and a super bowl appearance. Again all those people should have done what i said above and this wouldn't have happened. Also realize this kids dad is the GM of the Chicago White Sox so they have more than enough money to hunt you down and present you with a viable death threat.
First and foremost these guys are athletes. Their job is to play a game. In anyones profession you fuck up, it's just going to happen. Athletes fumble or take stupid penalties. I make spelling mistakes, other mix up numbers, some people forget to do things (could you imagine if an NFL QB forgot who he was throwing too...no longer death threats i feel those would be pretty real), basically what i'm saying is it's going to happen. So next time that you screw up at work let me know send me your twitter handle and i will send you a death threat. Because thats what these people are doing.
For those of you think its just fans being passionate my response to that is to call you an ass pirate and tell you to open your eyes. There are fans and then their are ass holes. The people who threaten athletes via social media are ass holes. The people who get over and get back to being die hards for that team are real fans. Perfect example Wes Welker dropped a ball in the SUPER BOWL that he catches literally every other time when people say 9/10 this was the 10th ball for wes and he had caught the rest. His life was not threatened, he was not run out of town, he wasn't even really hit that hard at all because agree or disagree PATS fans are REAL FANS. Same with packer fans, eagle fans, bills fans, dolphins fans. These fans don't go all 10 yr old shit fit when something bad happens. Yes they get angry, and yes for the most part they want someone to be fired when something is bad for awhile. But they don't take a guy to the middle of town and hang him.
These guys work there bags off the make fans like me and you happy 1 week at a time and they fully realize that it changes week to week whether we praise them or not. They do it anyway, so next time you play a pick up game with your buds and Joey Stix drops a 10 yd slant, either threaten to kill him or be a man/woman and get over it. If you can get over that you can get over Josh Morgans shit fit, it's one game the Skins are 1-1 not there usual 0-2 so your team is a step ahead already.
Thanks for reading, these are just my opinions please feel free to comment, i am not going to actually send out death threats and in no way did i mean to offend anyone.

Week 2 made me sad
Two weeks in the bag and there are only a few certain things in the NFL.
1) The Niners are for real, and that is scary
2)The Cleveland Browns, Trent Richardson/Joe Haden aside are really really bad.
First things first i have to eat my own words as the MIAMI DOLPHINS WON A GAME. I was 100% this would not happen this year. I was wrong. Shame on you Oakland. Carson Palmer actually did something good too . Fins win 35-13
Green Bay beats the bears and also win quote of the week from charles woodson who told the media that as long as they were in the right spot jay cutler (bears qb) would throw them (the packers) the ball. The bears were a disaster on thursday in a game that put me to sleep literally. Still not impressed with the packers though for a team thought to be the best bare none they sure aren't playing like it. Packers win 23-10.
Andrew Luck got his first NFL win Sunday beating the sub par Minnesota Vikings. Still a big step for him gotta start somewhere and he looked solid in the win, I like this guy he will have a very good career. Colts win 23-20.
RG3 was pretty good against the Rams, but Sam Bradford was better. Josh Morgan probably played his last snap as a redskin after throwing a fit because somebody pushed him when they shouldn't have. He cost his team 3 pts and possibly the game. Rams win 31-28.
Houston looked like the class of the AFC again with a comfortable 27-7 win. Arian Foster/Ben Tate are giving defenses around the league heart attacks already. And jacksonville also is god awful. Texans win 27-7.
Heartbreaker of the week goes to my New England Patriots who got beat in a sleeper 20-18 by the Cardinals. This game infuriated me, first of all the pats seem to think after one game they can run the ball on anyone. Second why are they only running the no huddle once in awhile instead of most of the time, third when someone hands you the game don't miss the fucking field goal. Cards win 20-18.
The Ravens "lost" a tight one to the eagles. Sorry eagles fans you didn't win this one, the refs took it away from the ravens. An offensive pass interference call in the endzone took away a game sealing touchdown from Jacoby Jones. And they the eagles went down and scored which wouldn't mattered if the refs wouldn't have really fucked that one up, Eagles win 24-23.
And in MNF the Falcons won the 1st quarter so they won the game. Peyton looked like a guy who had been out of the game for a year and thats not a big deal because he is still Peyton Manthing and he probably won't throw 3 picks again this year. The real story here is how Michael Turner decided to get bombed after the game and get arrested for DUI. HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE. The guys is making 5 MILLION DOLLARS this year i dont care if you find a bum with a licence hire him for the night buy him a car let him keep as long as he drives you home. That is much more intelligent that driving. ORRRRRRRRRRR HE COULD CALL A CAB. He played pretty good in the game though, the Falcon d was the difference with 4 turnovers. Falcons win 27-21.
Other winners included Carolina, Buffalo, Pittsburgh (suck it tebow), Seattle, San Diego (sleeper), Cincy, NYG, o ya and the MIAMI DOLPHINS. Somewhere Lauren Tannehill is celebrating (insert imagination here).

We talking bout the PLAYOFFS (mlb that is)
Baseball postseason is upon us. It's o so close. And if things keep up I'm very intrigued into how it will play out.
Let us start it off with the AL.
As it sits right now OAKLAND and BALTIMORE are in the playoffs. Did anyone at all see that coming. Oakland led by well everyone is just playing good baseball. Baltimore led by all star Adam Jones is shocking people. They look like they belong, and honestly seem to be gearing up for a run at the pennant. With the A's and Orioles holding the wild card spots the yankees, rangers, and white sox hold the other spots with the yankees and white sox playing each other and the rangers getting the winner of Oakland/Baltimore. The Angles, rays, and tigers aren't out of it though. But realistically i could see the Angles sneaking in and that's it. If the White Sox and Yankees end up playing look for the long ball to win that series. With Konerko, Dunn, and Youkilis swinging for the Sox all guys with some pop and then the Yanks with Tex, Swisher, Granderson, and Cano among others with some good pop to there bats. That series will go to whoever swings the biggest bat. Texas looks poised for another run at the world series, good pitching, good hitting, just overall good. But wild card teams usually have been playing playoff baseball for majority of Sept so look for whoever they play to try and ride some momentum in.
In the NL the Nationals are leading the way, but without Strasburg they need everyone in the rotation to really step up come playoff time. This also upsets me because Bryce is gonna make the playoffs and Trout might not. Cincy looks like a safe bid as well, San Fran is holding on and should be ok at least for a wild card spot. The Braves and Cards are the wild card teams as of now, and if this stays the same look for whoever gets the Nationals to beat them. Two teams that are much more seasoned then the Nats. Cincy/San Fran also looks like it could be 1 sided, the Reds are playing inspired baseball lately and with one of the biggest bats in the game at 1st (Joey Votto) they could make a serious run at the world series. Look for the dodgers and brewers to fall off the wild card race, and Arizona and my phillies to keep on pushing all the way through September. I do believe not much will change in the NL except maybe seeding. The pirates are also in the race but they have fallen off the map and i feel even thought they are still ahead of the phillies and d'backs that they won't make a run at the playoffs.
The new two team wild card has really made this race interesting though. I like that now teams can really push because the playoffs aren't such an exclusive group of teams. Look for some awesome baseball into October leading up to the beginning of the playoffs.
World Series prediction alert. I admit that lately my baseball research has dropped because of the NFL starting up but i always watch my highlights. And from what i gather, Texas looks very poised and prepared to make another run. And I'm loving me some Cincinnati right now. So here it is Rangers/Reds world series with the Rangers finally winning one.
Thanks for reading, these are just my opinions and my intent is not to offend just to share. Any comments feel free to post away.

I am going to lock the NHL out
That's right folks I'm locking the NHL out. I don't get paid a small portion of what those dick head owners and players make, yet i can't negotiate, or walk off the job or i wouldn't have a job.
Now I'm going to be completely honest I don't give a shit about the logistics of why they can't get a deal done. All i know is the greedy pricks are taking away the one game Canadians can call there own. And finally they actually had an American market for the game which with this lockout will be gone again. Again i emphasize i really don't care about the logistics, all i know is that they haven't spent nearly enough time negotiating, and they obviously don't have the right people doing the negotiating. Even if we got a one year deal together so we don't miss a season and then negotiate throughout. Common sense would say you can't divide profit if you don't have any so we should probably have a season.
Players are getting paid millions of dollars to play a game. For that i say sign the deal and go back to your off season homes and have a beer. Fuck if your so heartbroken about losing some money on top of the 3 million your making i will buy you a beer, save you the extra $6 i know your struggling for.
I find it enraging and ridiculous how greedy people have become in professional sports. I feel that athletes and owners should realize yes they play the game but who spends the money on tickets, merchandise, food/drinks at arenas. Who buys a special TV package so they can watch as many games as they want. THE FANS DO. Which is why I'm taking my stand and locking out the NHL.
Again i emphasize how many shits i don't give about the logistics of this deal. The reality is pretty much everyone involved are millionaires. And they are fighting over more money. Or money sharing. I'm sorry i didn't realize that money meant so much to you. Maybe instead of 3 Mercedes convertibles you should buy a hybrid. Now you save on gas and your car cost you less. Your welcome i just saved you money. Here's another option, maybe don't buy the 1.5 million dollar house, maybe settle for 700 000. I understand it's a business but again i emphasize the point that what is business without a consumer. How many times are you going to lockout the players and bank on still having the same fan base. If this lockout happens which it will you are going to piss off a an already unstable American fan base and cause your always loyal Canadian fan base to drink excessively and get angry.
Basically the points I'm trying to convey here are 1) I don't care about the integrate details of why we are going to have half an NHL season. 2) Your product is nothing without a consumer so why do you continuously piss off the consumer, eventually they will stop coming back.
If you agree with anything i have said here i encourage you to also lockout the NHL. Because in the end the rich will get richer and the consumer won't. The players will continue to skate and play overseas, in the AHL or for fun, the owners will continue to marry 23 year old women and spend money like its going out of style, and the the consumer will now have thrown out money for season tickets that he probably won't get all of back.

Sunday Ticket you complete me
Well that time of year has come around FINALLY. The NFL has started up with week 1 in the books. Lots of interesting things happened, so here is my round up of the events.
Mike Vick doesn't want to take the big hits anymore so on Sunday he devised the bold strategy of attempting to confuse the browns defence by throwing it to them to make them think they were on his team so they wouldn't hit him. He ended still getting hit and throwing 4 picks, in a winning effort but still 4 picks against the browns, what happens against the niners 7 picks? The eagles won 17-16 (insert vomit here)
The pats defence looked excellent. There be it against a 2nd year qb they still held the Titans running game to something like 20 total yds. With Chris Johnson being back there thats a really good sign so a D that struggled last year. Brady looked like Brady and they put up 27 of the 34 points the pats scored. The biggest surprise was the pats running game i think, 125 yds from Stevan Ridley, that will go a long way to giving Brady time to throw. Pats won 34-13
The Niners asserted themselves as the 1st or 2nd best team in the NFL (depends where you put the pats). They made Green Bays offence look irrelevant at times (we all know it isn't). They made Aaron Rodgers make mistakes that Aaron Rodgers doesn't make. Alex Smith was an excellent game manager and did exactly what he has to do the rest of the year for this team to excel. Niners won 30-22
The J.E.T.S jets jets jets either woke up from there offensive slumber or they are still dreaming it just changed from a nightmare to a dream. Mark Sanchez looked like a QB not a guy with a ball thats confused. The Bills looked god awful and lost Fred Jackson (again). Rookie wide out Stephen Hill was excellent for the jets and should fill a hole in that offence. Jets won 48-28
The Redskins and RG3 looked excellent all over the ball (on offence). Griffin was poised and accurate throwing for 320 and 2 TD's. The defence allowed 32 points though. So counting on Griffin to keep scoring at a high rate i think is a little too much to ask a rookie. Either way very impressive win for the Skins but they need to sure up that defence. Skin's win 40-32
Finally Peyton Manthing (also known as Manning) looked very very good in his return. He conducted the no huddle like he had never left indy, leaving a Steelers D tired and baffled. Broncos D also looked really good, Dumervil and Miller were studs and the corners did there job and then some. Broncos are a contender this year probaly in Top 3 right now by my opinion.
Finally i do this one because it makes me laugh. The Texans pulled of the huge upset of the MIAMI DOLPHINS with lauren tannehill at QB (i wish). The Dolphins are awful and are lucky to have only had 30 pts put on them. Ryan tannehill threw 3 picks and that is all i know because i didn't waste my time watching the game because like i said the Dolphins are awful. The only time i will watch the Miami Dolphins is if the halftime show is televised and its the above mentioned Lauren Tannehill running around in a bikini, if that doesn't happen this will probably be the last time i mention that disgrace of a team. Texans win 30-10
Other winners included Cowboys, Cardinals, Bears, Falcons, Lions, Vikings, Bucs, Ravens, Chargers.
Games to watch next week, Bears/Packers(TNF), Ravens/Eagles, Saints/Panther, Lions/Niners(SNF), Broncos/Falcons(MNF)
Can we take a minute to thank me for not mentioning tebow once in that whole things. That a big W in my books.
